About the Artist
Tina Rousselot's artwork is inspired by the landscape. She works
within the minimalist tradition painting the essence of what she sees
and feels thus giving form to a more interior landscape. Tina's work
is both stunning in its subtle complexity and refreshing in calm simplicity.
Tina has an MFA from Columbia University, New York in addition to a
BFA from Cornell University, College of Architecture, Department of
Painting & Sculpture, Ithaca, New York. She is an accomplished
landscape architect from Taos and Sante Fe, New Mexico and now resides
in Northern California where she paints full-time.
Artist's Statement
"Using the precepts of 16th century techniques, I create a world of
layered glazes; building constructions of light, each one a structure
of experience as I am a result of my experience.
I am interested in setting up a dialogue of color, a subtle connection
of interior to exterior, to carry on a conversation of contrast:
vibrancy and weight / quiet, contemplative lightness. I want you to
move from one to the other. I am interested in interior conversations
and the movement and emotions of color and mood; from the dynamic to
ethereal; from energy to calm reflection; And finally the balance of
opposites coming together and speaking in their own voice."
